Hi Coach,

I was wondering, How do I generate spins in anything I do? I tried changing rubber but my friends still said that my serves and etc has little spin and I don't know to make it more spinny.

I hope you you can answer me soon.

Hi Aloy,

It sounds like you have got the equipment covered by getting a new rubber. Out of interest what rubber are you using?

Once you have a decent rubber then you need 2 things to generate spin.

1) a fast contact and

2) a fine brushing contact

When you first try and generate spin I find it helpful to move away from the table. Just get out and hit the ball without worrying about where it goes. Concentrate on getting a fast brushing contact. I like to try and generate a lot of backspin and get the ball coming back towards me.

You can see an example of Alois doing this in our lesson on Practicing Alone.

Give it a try and let me know how you get on.

#28 - Serving To Win

Initially when you are learning a new serve you can just get a bucket of balls and serve over and over again. But at some stage you need to practice your serve exactly as you would play in a match. In this session we focus on this. It's important that you try to make this practice as close to a real match as you can so that when you are in the real thing, you feel comfortable.
