Playing against Defensive Player

Strategy

Hi Sir,

I recently lost a match badly against a player who played with a racket with dead rubber and very very thin sponge.

Even when I chop heavily he just easily drops the ball in my side without any spin.

When I try to do topspin it goes away from the table.

How to play against a player with racket like this ?

I think you are on the right track. I would persist with your topspin stroke. If you are hitting the ball off the end of the table you can try to come over the ball some more and generate a little more topspin. Once you develop this stroke you are likely to start overpowering your opponent.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for your response sir.

The fact is my opponent to whom i lost had played in a very low end racket. When he hits the ball, the sound comes like the ball hit on a wooden piece.

I'll let you know for sure one I implement your suggestion.
