Strategy

Hi Alois,

I have been watched your video on how to return slow spinny topspins over and over again, but what I want to know is when to do what?

I played today against a very consistent slow looper, and I managed to block most back, but realised that the more I block the easier it is for him to get his next one in.

What sort of ball should I look for to play the punch shot to try and put myself on the front foot? Obviously the loops have variation in height spin and speed, so I need to know what sort of variation to look for to try the punch shot.

Thanks!

Hi Simon,

It is usually a matter of time and confidence in each of those strokes.

If you have more time then you can think about using the punch and the counter topspin.  Of course you need to have confidence in these strokes as they are a little harder to execute.

The punch and topspin are more effective if you can land them as they are more aggressive.
