Hi Alois

My opponent typically plays forehand attack and pivots quite well.

His backhand is just ok and i have seen that he does not seem to bend on his knees but has almost a straight standing position.

Sad part he beats me. Good part is after i have seen your videos , i am giving him a run for his money but yet...

What do you suggest should be my method.

I have improved my attack and my backhand was my strong point...earlier and still is to some extent. but now i have developed a bit of a scare, as i am losing too often.

Can you suggest a strategy to beat him?

Hi Rakesh,

I think a good way to play this type of player is to play the first ball out to their wide forehand.  This then exposes their weaker backhand corner.

Give it a try the next time you play him.

hi Alois

could you pls elaborate a bit. i tried playing the wide forehand by which i mean, hen he serves i try to put the ball in his forehand area and as far wide as possible but it still comes in his reach and he smashes it

Focus on keeping that ball low and fast out to the forehand and be ready to make a block on the next ball.  Vary the positioning in the forehand area.  It doesn't have to be very wide all the time or they will learn tome to that position easily.  It can also just be deep into the corner or even a little closer to the middle sometimes.

Dear Alois

i tried all that today. but he is able to hit the forehand very very well. also i found big mistake, i am not getting any bcakspin serves. the serve goes as you say the DANGER AREA and he just smashes it.

y am i not able to get the backspin and the pendulum serve. i have seen your videos but yet not very clear how to go about it

Hi Rakeshs,

The main thing with backspin is to brush under the ball on contact.  We teach this in our Introduction to Serving section in the lesson on Learning To Spin

and also in the Must Learn Serves section in the Pendulum Serve video.
