On the attack and Defense side

Strategy

So, there is a basic tactic, that the serve is a push, I return them a push, and the game mode changes to offensive as the opponent topspins it and I will have to go to a block (To the backhand side of the player to avoid a killer shot).

I does the same thing when the opponent serves.

So what I am trying to ask is, How can I keep changing the game mode(making it slower), like, once it goes to Topspin-Block, the game gets offensive, how can I get back to push?

Also, is there a video of doing a proper Push to Topspin shot as I often misses the ball(the ball doesnt touch my racket) or the ball hits the back end of the table on my own side.

Waiting to hear from you. :)

Hi Kishor,

Once the game goes to an attack it very rarely goes back to a push.  YOu can go back from the table and chop the ball like we show you in this video on the Backhand Chop.  this doesn't happen that much at the top level.

To make a proper topspin against a push take a look at our lesson on the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
