Equipment
Hi PingSkills!
I got a new bat, but when I clean the rubber with a damp sponge, the dust increased in number, and it lost its grip . (It has a smooth surface but when I rub a ball against it, I did feel it a little) It became sticky (tacky?) when I used the damp sponge but then lost it when I placed it on a table. I am still able to loop the ball and serve side spin with it though
. Will the grip come back? Or is it just my... fingers?
P.S. I'm sorry for asking this dumb question
Thanks!
Hi Yu,
The rubber is probably dead and you will need to replace it. Once it gets like that there is not much you can do about it.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

That'd suck on a brand new bat though...!
