What kind of paddle should I get?  I have had a ping pong table for about two years.  I use a lot of topspin, sidespin, and smashes.  Are there any types of paddles specifically designed for those things.  If so, what are they.  I would like to keep the price below $35. Thanks.

Hi William,

There are a lot of rackets around. The main thing you are looking for is a rubber on the racket that has some sponge under the rubber and the surface of the rubber is grippy.  This will allow you to do the strokes correctly.

The bat we recommend which is a little higher in price but will last a lot longer is the PingSkills Rook Table Tennis Bat.  This will last you a lot longer in your development as well.

The cheaper bats will only be good for you for a short time and won't allow you to develop past that because of the limited quality of the rubber.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
