hey

the problam is that often, when I try to loop the ball back it has a hell of a lot of spin but very little power so just falls into the net, all my other shots are fine but this is supposed to 'be my weapon'. How can I remedy this problem?

Hi Joe,

This one is simple.  Just contact the ball a little flatter.  So don't have such a brushing action on the ball.  You will still generate topspin but you will get more power and the ball will travel further and over the net.

And when you hit the ball slightly more flat you also improve consistency.

Don't worry about the ball going into the net because if you start a rally with pushing strokes and then you do the attacking forehandstroke you will be amazed about the fact that it doesn't take much to get the ball over the net. (opponents who chop the ball is a different matter :)

Another thing I noticed, when you have less topspin on youre forehand stroke is that the opponents initial reaction is to simply block the ball. But when they do so the ball goes down into the net! But ofcourse, more skilled players know how to handle such balls.
