What strategy do you need if you are an amateur and playing against an experienced player. Cuz I play with my father who is a state level champion.

Another part, he has an angular kind of topspin much the same way as Rafael Nadal. When I want to topspin back on the same stroke, I see that the ball just flies away and does not reach the other side.

Pls help

Thanx

Hi Shaant,

The most important thing is to follow some procedures, like working out where their weakness is and what your strengths are.

If you take a look through our section on the Vault you will see the things that you can focus on.  You can do one with your Dad as the opponent and try to work things out.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
