hi alois and jeff

in a rally when i sometimes make mistakes my opponents either play a kill shot or a smash against a low ball . i know when to take a step or 2 back but then the smash comes with such speed that i cant move back on time to play lobs. how can i reach a comfortable distance from the table in such a short time and /or how can i create this time?  also can u offer me any more useful tips on lob? i would really appreciate those on winning a point when forced to play a lob?

thank you

Hi Shripathi,

When you are forced to lob you are in about a 20% chance of winning the point.  So make the most of this position.

It is important to move into a position that will close off the angles from where they will smash the ball.  Also move back quickly as soon as you see the ball going up high.

Take a look at our lesson on the Lob.  This will show you this as well.
