Hello Coach, I am having problems lifting backspin with backhand especially vs a long side spin serve that curves of the the table long to my left.  Should I topspin and if so do I do more of a vertical backhand.  Thanks

Manuel.

Hi Manuel,

Firstly you are making the right shot choice in attempting the topspin.

To make the stroke correctly you should play a stroke like we show you in our lesson on Backhand Topspin Off Backspin.  The only thing is that you will need to allow for the sidespin as well.  Make sure you are getting right behind the ball with your feet and then into a comfortable position to play the shot.
