Lazy referee

Can you explain why one referee is too lazy to go and pick the ball up when it's quite close and the other referee has to walk round pick it up and hand it to him. How do they choose is it age discrimination.

The main umpire has the job of overall control of the match.  The other umpire, or assistant umpire does the fetching of the ball.

Umpires will change positions after each match so it is not a particular umpire that needs to get the ball each time, it just depends on which job they have for that particular match.
