i heard that the jump smash have more power as they can slam down on the table faster as the ball is higher?so how do i do the jump smash variation frm the normal smash,please advice.

This is not a shot that you need to play. You are better off waiting for the ball to drop to your shoulder height and smashing it.
It becomes a lot more risky if you are jumping at the same time as trying to smash.
The forehand block is one way to counter a topspin stroke hit to your forehand side. Learn this stroke and you will be able to keep yourself in the rally even when your opponent get the first attack in.
