Hi coach

thanks for ur kind reply for the last question of mine.

i also want to ask one thing that while i hold the raket and play using shake hand grip, my index fingr goes a bit upwards on the rubber....almost 20-30 degrees above the horizontal, is it proper to have a good control??? or i hav to push it back and put it right straight horizontally,

i saw ur video which told that u can hold ur bat from backwards for attacking purposes and in this way the index finger gets a bit inside, but what about if it goes a lil more ABOVE than the horizontal lane of the rubberfor a better control probably????

thanks in anticipation

Hi Hammad,

It is best to keep your finger in the lower position.  In this position your hand is in a more natural position and so your wrist will be able to operate properly. If you lift your finger up higher on the back of the bat it will tighten your wrist and therefore it will be harder to get enough spin and speed on the ball.

Try putting a coin under your index finger while you are training.  This will help you to keep the finger in the right position.  Be careful if it files away though!

ive heard people who have their index finger up at an angle like that get natural hook sidespin in their shots.

yes it happens to be a bit true... but a disadvantage is also that after some time due to sweat beneath that finger on the rubber, it tends to slip on it...
