Strokes
Hi Alois,
When I try to hit the ball hard, I first....
1) Hit the ball off the table.
2) Don't know what body part that helps me move the fastest [insded of the wrist, because I don't use the wrist] for my forehand.
3) Try to use my wrist on the backhand topspin, but hit it off the table.
Can you [please] help me fix these problems?
Thanks,
Ian.
Hi Ian,
The key is topspin. The faster you hit the ball the more topspin you will need to keep it on the table.
For the forehand use your forearm, your waist and your legs to generate the speed. The wrist can be used a little as well but only as an extension of the rest of the arm.
With the backhand you can use the wrist more again think about the topspin. Perhaps you need to get a more brushing action on it.
Just keep working consistently and you will keep improving.
