Training
I have started playing table tennis two years ago and I had trained with a qualified coach for three months as I know it is a short period of time I want to tell you that I do not have the best conditions for practicing table tennis and ask if there is a possibility to improve my playing as it is a sport which I love. What kind of trainings and style would you recommend for the previously mentioned conditions and if it would be useful for me to watch and learn from professional table tennis players
Hi Krsto,
It is definitely possible to improve. If you are playing in a club this will help greatly especially if you love the game.
Keep going to the club when you can and do some regular training with someone there. Also play some competitions when you can. If you can keep doing the coaching with the coach that will also help you to get better technique. Then watch as many of our videos as you can starting with the Beginner Building Blocks of Table Tennis video which will show you the direction to work in.
Watching professional players is another good way to improve. There is always some good matches to watch on iTTV.
In this session you'll focus on increasing the speed of your footwork. To do this we ask you to forget about consistency and concentrate on speed. You should be playing at a pace where you can get around 4 or 5 balls on the table. If you are getting 10 or 20 balls on then you need to up your pace again. It's important to play right to the edge of your ability to actually increase your skill level. We also continue to develop the new serve you have chosen to work on.
