Strokes
Hello, I'm a big fan of your videos. I wanted to ask about the mental aspect of the game. I often find myself struggling in matches because I react to shots more than anticipate them. Do you have any tips on how to improve anticipation, or is experience really more of a factor?
Hi Jonathan,
I am glad that you are finding the site useful.
One of the keys here is to track the ball carefully. By watching the ball it will give you all the information that you need to know where it is going. If you try to anticipate you will find yourself guessing and often guessing incorrectly.
Take a look at this video on Improving Your Reflexes which will also help you with this issue.
There are 3 basic areas to focus on when learning a stroke: 1) The position of your feet. 2) The starting position of your bat. 3) The finishing position of your bat. Of all these 3 elements the finish position is the most critical. Watch this video to find out why.
