How to stop defensive backspin

So i was playing against someone and all they did was play defensive backspin and i use a lot of topspin but i know topspin does not go well against backspin what should i do instead?

Hi Bradey,

You should keep trying to topspin the ball.  It is the most effective way to combat defensive players.

Take a look at the lesson on Forehand Topspin Off Backspin.  This is an important stroke to master.

Tactics Against A Defensive Chopper

A chopper likes to get back from the table and get into a nice rhythm. If you keep the defender close to the table in the early part of the rally, it's hard for them to transition back into their chopping position.
