How to play on a backspin stroke

Strategy

Hi Alois and Jeff,

Thanks for all the videos on YouTube and now I have gotten better at table tennis or much rather getting those ping skills. However there is one stroke that I'm very weak at and it's whenever my opponent gives me a backspin stroke I get confused in either using a forehand topspin or the forehand push or loop for a counterhit. My question is when do I use the forehand topspin, push or loop. I'm getting confused and often hit it outside the court or into the net! Depending on where the ball bounces what shot is to be used?

Thanks!

yours,

Zohaib

Hi Zohaib,

If you stay with the principle of when it on'y bounces once on your side you topspin, if it bounces more than once then use the push you will start to become more efficient.

It still takes time to be able to judge this but with practice you will start to recognise the length of the ball earlier and therefore give yourself more time to prepare to play the strokes.
