How to play a fast shot against smash

Coach can you tell me how to play a fast shot against a smash because i have seen your video on you tube the way you showed gives the opponent the chance to play another smash

Hi Dawood,

The lob is the safer shot but as you say, it gives your opponent the chance to smash the ball again. Attempting a smash against a smash is a very tough shot because you are usually a long way back from the table and the ball will be coming at you very fast.

To smash the ball back, you use a shot similar to a normal smash. I wouldn't think to much about this shot. When it happens in a game and if the ball comes to the right spot when you are lobbing, you can just go for it and try the smash. The other option to consider is to try and topspin the ball back. For this you use a similar shot to the normla forehand topspin.

These are very difficult shots to pull off but they are not a bad option considering you will lose most points when lobbing anyway.
