How to overcome an unpredictable opponent?

Strategy

There's this guy I've played for a long time. I always have a hard time playing him because he always finds new tricks up his sleeve that he uses against me. I never know what his next move will be or anything. Sometimes, he pretends to serve one way and actually serves the other way. He sometimes uses short backspin and out of nowhere, smashes the ball. So how do i get by against this very odd and unpredictable player?

Hi Esteban,

The first and most important thing is to track the ball well by watching it really closely.

This will help you to pick up the cues of where the ball is going as early as possible.  Then it is a matter of trying to implement your own game plan.  If you can do this you may start to make him react to you rather than you being forced to react to his shots.

ok thanks. By the way, I've played numerous players as good as him but I could read their minds like a book. Most of them used similar body stances whenever they were going to do a particular move so I never had any trouble with any of them. But this odd player was different in which his body stances were very unknown to me. I'll take your advice. Thanks again.
