Hi PingSkills you said that i still can make a lot of backspin with short push, but i think i can't do it as when returning serve, i try to push it short near the net but they just flick me easily so, what should i do ? Have the firm grip so it will have more backspin or what ? Please help me as i don't want to push long to make them topspin and also don't want to make them flick me please for the answer thank you very much

Hi Frendy,

You need to get the angle right back to be able to get right under the ball.  Keep your grip relaxed.  It is a difficult shot because it needs such a fine contact.  That sort of touch only comes with a lot of practice.

Having a great short push can be the difference between being an average player and being a great player. Make sure you allocate the appropriate amount of practice to mastering the push.
