Hi Alois and Jeff,

Recently, I practice more with my serve. I generate more spin on my serve with the pendulum and reverse pendulum sidespin. Yesterday I played with my friends, and I found that my friend's ball was so rough and when I serve the ball, it couldn't spin enough so my friend executed it easily. My conclusion is, the ball gives impact to my serves. Is that right?

Thanks a lot
Regards, Archel

Hi Archel,

The ball can effect the serve. A softer and lighter ball will swing and turn more than a harder ball.  Perhaps he was using a 3 star ball.  What sort of balls do you use for training?

I use the Butterfly Youth and DHS balls for my serving practice

They should be quite hard, especially the DHS balls.

So which ball should I use to practice?

The better ball that you can afford to practice with the better.  Use the DHS if you can.
