Hello Sir,

Please show me how to do backspin serve because i  cant slide the ball very fast with flat surface. It always goes somewhat little far from the net and it bounces on the opponents side.

Hi Deepjyoti,

The key is to brush the base of the ball as fast as you can.  Also think about hitting the ball directly into your side of the table quite close to you.  This will allow the ball enough time to bounce up and over the net.

We cover serving comprehensively in our Premium section on Serving Secrets.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.

Hi Deepjyoti,

A good way to practice getting backspin is to move away from the table. Find an area where you can hit the ball onto the floor and try to get it to spin back to you.

Another thing to check is that your rubber has enough grip to generate the spin. When you run your finger over the rubber you should feel it grip. What bat are you using at the moment?
