Hi Aradhya,

A player who is not as strong can still beat a better player by making the match uncomfortable and staying disciplined.

  • Don't try to play above your level. Focus on consistency and placement.
  • Serve to the opponent's weaknesses and vary the spin.
  • Keep returns low and make the opponent play another ball.
  • Attack only when you have a good opportunity rather than forcing winners.
  • Play to the elbow and wide angles to create movement.
  • When under pressure, slow the game down and reset the point.
  • Most importantly, focus on one point at a time. Don't think about the opponent's ranking or how strong they are.

In pressure situations, your goal is not to play your best ever table tennis. It is to play the most reliable table tennis you have.
