Strokes
Hello! When is the ball best hit with the middle of the racket? I notice that a non-spinned ball can be both spinned and oriented using the middle of the racket.

Hi Siddig,
We tend to use the middle fo the racket mainly for control and smashes.
For more spin we tend to contact the ball nearer to the leading edge of the racket or the end of the racket if that is moving faster to generate more spin.

Thanks a lot indeed. In fact, I told an advanced beginner who was unable to top-spin the ball properly to use the middle of the racket when hitting it and he sent me a spinned ball on my right which he could then orient to my left. Did he really use the middle of the racket? This needs being verfied.
Ah not sure with that one.

Last saturday, I tried to see where his racket exactly hits the ball and it is very likely that he uses the middle of the racket yet with some sort of a topspin stroke. I tried myself to use the middle of the racket but I could only send him a spinned ball of a kind of a from-corner-to-corner fade using my wrist.
