Hi Alois, I trying to learn the pendulum serve and I have noticed that the correct movement requires that the ball is impacted very close to the hip of the server, while I tend to stay away to impart more swing. Why the pros serve in that way? to hide as much as possible the real action?

Ciao

Hi Roberto,

One of the main reasons they hit the ball close to your body is, in that position it is easier to use your wrist and relax your forearm through the serve.  The main movement when you get to that level is to use your wrist more than anything else.

I think that hiding backswing is also important.
