High spinny chop against loop

Strokes

Hello Jeff and Alois. I cannot thank you enough for your expert advice.

I am simply in awe of the high, extremely spinney chop off of loop that I see from so many of the women players.  To me, it looks as if their hand moves under and forward on the ball generating huge amounts of under spin.  Yes, it may be out of my league, but I would love to know the fundamentals in that shot's execution.

Hi James,

The chop against a heavy topspin is a difficult shot.

Try to get your bat moving down on the ball to allow for the topspin on the ball.

Then focus on getting a brushing action to generate the spin.  I think the higher one can be difficult for the opponent but in general aim to keep the ball lower.

Stop Coming Back to Ready Position! Do This Instead…

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
