Health of rubber with old balls

Hihi Pingskills, my friend gave me a stash of 1971 balls which are very old and have brown spots (probably mould) growing on it. Will it damage the rubber faster?

Hi Benzene,
I don't think the ball will damage the rubber but they are probably the smaller 38mm ball which is different to the 40mm which is commonly used now.
