Grip for reverse pendulum serves

Serving

I have a feeling it's a lot easier to get control and a clean brush on my reverse pendulum serves if I modify my serving grip so my thumb is pointing up instead of along the bottom of the bat (for the normal pendulum it doesn't seem to make any difference). Do you reckon this is a common thing or just my personal preference?

(Conversely, keeping my thumb up like that feels really awkward for backhand and tomahawk serves)

Hi Johan,

This sounds like a personal preference and is fine in itself.

The only thing is that you want a similar grip for the two serves so that it is harder for your opponent to tell which one is coming.

Definitely! I'll try it out on Thursday, along with some deceptive no spin tomahawks
