Hey. I'm trying to teach my dad how to play table tennis, and i don't really know any good way on how to teach him how to hit a basic backhand or a basic forehand. He's a beginner at table tennis, but i'd really like someone to play with :)

Do you know easy exercises that i can use to teach my dad forehand and backhand?

Hi Timmy,

Thanks for your reply.

It is great that you are also helping your Dad.

The best way to help him with the forehands and backhands is to get him to watch the lessons on the Forehand Counterhit and the Backhand Counterhit and then work on those skills specifically.  Hit the ball to him really slowly to start with.  You could even throw the ball to him by bouncing it on both sides like a serve but nice and high so that he has plenty of time to do the stroke correctly.

As he progresses, you can then start to hit the ball back to him in a rally.

Good luck with your Table Tennis and also your coaching.
