Hi Alois,

I have seen the lessons and many times you mention that the forehand topspin stroke shouldn't go past the midline of the body. Unforunately I feel I'm habituated to go past the mid line of the body in almost every forehand stroke. Pls advice how to perform the correct stroke and aslo pls explain the disadvantages of this false stroke. Thank you

Hi Bhavesh,

The reason you don't want the bat moving past the mid line is because it will throw you off balance and make it slower to recover for the next shot.

Changing something like that will require a bit of training and also your mind being open to the change.  Focus only on where your bat is finishing not even on where the ball is going and you will find you will start to make changes.

I also think that moving the forehand stroke past the mid line of your body makes the stroke more inconsistent. It makes the action more closed and doesn't give you the ability to generate as big a swing whilst maintaining consistency.
