Getting the Ball to Dip

Hi coach,

I have a small question which has been bugging me. One of my friends said that there is a technique that helps to land the ball perfectly on the other side. I don't remember it but when he executes it with a smash, the ball falls quickly on the table. I am sure that you guys know about it. So can you please tell me.

Thanks a lot

yours sincerely, Parakram

Hi Parakram,

Putting topspin on the ball will cause it to dip. Take a look at our video on the Forehand Topspin Against Block and the Backhand Topspin Against Block. These will show you how to generate topspin. When you play these shots, because the ball dips, you can hit it quite hard and still have it land on the table.
