Forehand topspin near the table

When I try to do a forehand topspin near the table, the ball usually goes outside. Can you tell me how I can do a topspin succesfullly near the table. Tks

Hi Duncan,

It may be as simple as closing the angle of your bat a bit. This will get the ball travelling a bit lower and landing on the table.

Make sure you are also getting a good brushing action on the ball so that the topspin will drag the ball onto the table as well.

when the ball is near the edge, i tend to act defensively because i'm scared to dent or sctratch my bat. how do i combat this?

Watch the ball carefully and track it all the way to the bat.
