Been at it for a few months now and although i am getting a lot better, at least one of the best in my Shop (where we play) im still having a hard time with my forehand as far as looping the ball over or smashing. Grant it when we play we are in Uniform and Combat boots but none the less still find myself struggling not following through or getting the ball over with aggression. I tend to just lob it over setting the other guy up... Also im a lefty and am not sure if that plays a difference.. I mainly play Right handed players.

Hi Wilder,

Try getting the racket to get over the ball more and make the stroke come through faster.  This will ensure you are brushing the ball and getting more spin on the ball.  It will also mean you are not lobbing the ball up but getting a good topspin.

If you open the angle of your bat you can get the ball on the table but you will tend to lob the ball because you are not getting any spin on the ball.

Forehand Block

The forehand block is one way to counter a topspin stroke hit to your forehand side. Learn this stroke and you will be able to keep yourself in the rally even when your opponent get the first attack in.
