What are some ways to improve footwork? If anyone has any ideas please comment.

I'm trying to do at least 500 sidestep shadow practice a day (that's very tiring for me), hoping it can strengthen my legs.
Yes this will help. Make sure when you are doing it that you do it in the lower leg position. Even if you don't do as many, it is better to do it in a better position.
What is sidestep shadow practice ?
It is practicing the shuffle sideways movement that we show you in the lesson on the Footwork Basics. Shadow means doing it without the ball in play, so just practicing the movements.

Bend your knees while you are doing it.
