Flat strokes without topspin

Strokes

I usually use top spins on my strokes except for kills. I would also like to learn how to stroke with a flat stroke also. Do i go straight thru the ball? The big advantage i think it takes less time to stroke the ball. You do not have to cock your wrist, which is a more precise stroke. It may speed up my game. Please comment.

Hi Joseph,

Flat strokes are good if you are wanting to play the ball faster. The problem with them is that they have less margin for error over the net because the all is going in more of a straight line rather than an arc.

You need to decide for each ball whether you want speed or consistency or a mixture of both and if so what type of mix.  There is room in your game for both.
