Hello,

Is muscle growth a bad issue for table tennis players?

I have been playing table tennis for more than 10 years and just started to work with weights half a year ago.

I feel that my muscles are bigger, arms muscles also.

So, what can you tell about this? Any similar experience from your stundents?

Hi Mindaugas,

Muscle development is not detrimental to playing well.  It can benefit you because the increase in muscle will mean more power.

Take a look at the blogs we have on these subjects.

I am 74 years old now, but I started doing the body building recently, because I told my friends that I wanted to look good when I died. But my friend replied that if I looked good, I would not die yet. After not playing my favorite table tennis since high school, I had such an urge to start playing it again ! Reading your positive answer to the weight trainning to a player, I am going to do all the goodies I always love to do: Internaional Ballroom dancing, Body building and table tennis.
