Hello Alois,

is there any advice for exercise for wrist disengagement? I feel that my wrist is not so soft as it should be during the game and that limits me to create more spin during the serving.

Thank you Jan

Hi Jan,

The first thing is to focus on the wrist during the serve and feel how relaxed you can keep it.

The next thing is to go away from the table and see if you can get the ball to spin non the floor. Work on getting the ball to come back towards you with backspin.  Then let the wrist flow through as easily as you can and see how little effort you can take to get the action by keeping the wrist as floppy as you can.

By moving away from the table you will receive the pressure of wanting to get the serve correct.  Once you feel that smoothness and relaxation coming you can go to the table and do a backspin on there, again, not trying to serve, just getting the ball to come back towards you.  If you get that feeling then you can have a try at serving.

At each of these steps if you feel the tension developing again, move back one step in the progress.  You can go back to the floor and get the relaxed feel again.
