Doubles Strategy with defender

Strategy

My doubles partner is a defender, I am an agressive looper. That caused us a lot of problem in the game. For example, the opponents topspin the ball, I countertopspin. My topspin is better, so it results in a weak topspin return. If it was me, I can finish the point right away, but that weak topspin came to my partner's backhand, so instead of topspinning, he chops the ball like he would normally do in singles match. So now the chance to attack is given to the opponents. It was very disappointing. Is there any strategy to avoid this as much as possible?

Hi Viet,

It can be difficult playing with a defender in doubles.

If you can get the defender to start the rally with lower chops, this will allow you to make a first attack on the ball in the rally.  You need to also be prepared to make a lot of good counter-topspins in the match.
