Difference between a counterhit and a push

Hello,

I'd like to understand what is difference b/w forehand counterhit and forehand push in terms of technique and situations when they are applied.

Hi Marchello,

The Forehand counterhit is hit with a small amount of topspin and really is an attacking shot. You use this to try win the point or at least gain the ascendency in a rally.

The
Forehand Push
is more of a defensive stroke. With this shot you impart backspin on the ball which makes it harder for your opponent to attack.
