Every time I to defend people that smash the ball really hard I start freaking out. Can you give a solution for defending these shots?

Hi George,

Staying calm would be a good first step.

Then we can think of the types of shots you can use to defend the smashes.

I think the best solution in most cases is to step back away from the table to give yourself more time to see the ball and then use the Lob.  Take a look at the link on how to play this shot well.

Hello, George. Would you take another advice? Think first how the coach says, calm down; it's part of the game, not the end. Now, what helps me also is prevent the other player from smashing. Develop a good block and learn to direct it so you can hit his center or far from his attacking side.
