Hi Tim,

As a defender you need to still follow the strategies of spin, speed and placement of your strokes. Against each opponent you will need to work our what to do with each of these variables.

For tips on the Backhand Chop take a look at our free lesson on the Backhand Chop.  This has a lot of points for you.

The sidespin serve with backspin is done by brushing the ball across and a little underneath the ball to get that spin.  YOu first need to make sure you can get a good brushing action on the ball and then you can change the position to get as many different types of spin that you want.  Our DVD Serving Secrets Revealed will help you a lot.  Init we explain exactly how to get different spins on the ball.

For tips on stress go to our archive of Ask the Coach questions in the category of Mental Preparation and you will see a whole lot of previous answers that will help you during your matches.
