Thanks for the prompt answers to all my questions, you guys are doing great work. Recently while watching a video of Joo Se Hyuk play,i saw him returning smashes by chopping the ball.On return the ball was curving heavily in the air.How does this happen and can it be done with other shot? How can we practice this? Please demonstrate with a video....Thanks.

Hi Tejas,

The curve in the air happens because on this shot he is putting sidespin.  It is more noticeable because the ball is travellng over a greater distance.  If you put sidespin on a shot when close to the table it will still curve but it won't have as much time to curve a lot.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
