Training
Hello Alois and Jeff,
What drills can you do to improve consistency? ( especially with backhand and forehand topspins)
Also, my practice partner is not very good so how could I train with him?
Hi Wasiq,
The best thing to improve consistency is to play slowly and try to get as many balls on the table as possible in a row. But first it is important to get the technique correct. If you get good technique then you will also give yourself the best chance of making the stroke correctly and on the table more.
If your practice partner isn't as good, then Multi-ball is a good option. We will be making a lesson on Multi-ball and how to do it shortly. It is where you have a bucket of balls and your partner feeds them out to you one at a time. They don't need to be able to keep up with your hitting to be able to give you a good amount of practice.
Question actions
The backhand topspin off backspin is often considered a harder shot than the forehand. In this week's training session we focus on utilising this shot to make a 3rd ball attack. If you can master this your opponents will find it difficult to stop you attacking and you will constantly have them under pressure.
