Hi Ishaan,

You can attack with the long pimples especially when they play a backspin ball to you.  Take a look at our lesson on LP Attack Against Backspin.

However, in general it is not an attacking rubber, it is more used for defence.

There are more allround long pimples which you can attack more often with tho and with some really sensitive def long pimples, you would have to watch out, especially on smashing, as the pimples can get damaged(break) here easily.

In lower classes, its enough if the ball is a bit higher, you hit the ball a bit harder, like a mini smash or counterhit and it will get an akward trajectory and sometimes "flatter", which will cause many unexperienced players make errors, as they would have to really closely watch the ball and rely on their perception, instead of trying the patterns like with not flattering balls they are used to. This is all in addition to the attack on backspin Alois mentioned.

If you want to be a good attacker with most ambition, most approval and in my opinion also most fun, i would recommend using inverted rubbers on both sides, instead of pimples. In higher classes nobody will really fall for the long pimple attack and its really only for defense.

There is some short pimple attacking from some asians tho, which i dont know really much about, but that would be also another interesting topic :)

I am using Curl P-1 and still able to maintain the same level of attack as I had with inverted :DD
But after all,I am an enormously weak and incapable player so it doesn't count
