Hi Pingskills

My biggest Strength is my topspin off the top of the bounce as I can generate a lot of power and find it easy to win the point.  So I try to play Short topspin serves and Kickers to get that return I like and the odd backspin/float combination as well as long fast serves which I can easily take off the top of the bounce and kill.  Could you give me some advice on drills I should be doing and general tips if you could.  What would you suggest for my return of serve to get into the fast rallies.

Thanks

Hi Cameron,

I think the combination of serves you are doing are appropriate.  These will lead to returns you are looking for.

So then in training practice a lot of combination of these 3rd ball strategies.  You can do them one at a time to start with.  So get your training partner to hit the ball to one spot off one type of serve.  Then you can expand to different serves and get them to hit the return to the same spot.  From there you can expand further to them hitting the return to anywhere on the table.

For your return of serve, a long fast push or a flick return will get you into the open rallies.  You can also play short and wait for them to hit the ball long which will give you the important first attack.

Hi Cameron,

I don't think I used it enough.  It is easy to forget things and get caught up with the day to day training.
