Strokes
Hi Alois,
in a lesson "how to counter a slow spinny topspin", one thing is to block the topspin. Well in the similar way can we block the lob, as it too contains a lot of topspin. And also it will also result in landing the ball shorter and closer to the net.
Hi Aasim,
You can block the lob the main difficulty is keeping the ball low on the other side. This is what we call a drop shot. Take a look at the lesson on the Drop Shot off a Lob.
This will show you the technique.
Question actions
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.

But for this technique we have to wait for lob that lands closer to the net
Yes it is best to wait for the shorter ball. Otherwise it is better to smash the ball.

The short ball must be a oportunity to finish the point, because if you smash it you can do it extremely hard and with a good direction, and if you do a drop shot, you can do a really short drop. Otherwise, a long lob dont allow you to hit the ball to hard or drop it to short without to much height.
