Learn the best way to play the drop shot off a lob and expand your options for winning the point once you have forced your opponent into lobbing.
Hi Alois,I have tried to do a drop shot when I played against my teacher. I have a little problem in it. My teacher didn't use backspin, instead he brushed at the bottom of the ball, so when it touched the table, it changed direction. The ball didn't touch perfectly on my bat. Can you help me? Thx for the vid too!
Take a look at the lesson on the Drop Shot off a Chop. Then you need to also adjust your shot if they put a little sidespin on the ball as well. This is a tricky shot to deal with. It is a little like dealing with a sidespin serve. You need to adjust the angle of your bat like a rudder to steer the ball back in the proper direction. Don't try to do too much with the stroke, just use the angle of your bat.
i tried the drop shot but the ball goes net ,
but i do the same angle
This does take some practice to get right, especially as you are taking the ball early. Try practicing this shot and at first don't worry too much about keeping the ball short. Try to focus on getting the ball over the net. Open up the angle of your bat and aim just above the net. Once you get consistent at getting the ball over like this, you can start to try and get the ball lower and shorter.
thank you sir
hii cant hear what your taking, just a little bit of background music, or its is just me?
Some of the early videos were down in mono. can you check that the left speaker on your sound system is on. Then it should work for you.
Not watching it yet
how can I do a dropshot of a sidespin lob or a very powerful topspin lob?
It always gets blown off the table even when I close my bat
and..you said that the dropshot off a longer ball is difficult.
But is it still possible?I often get into the situation when I really need it.
second thing-you said that the tighter hand means larger bounce.
Does it mean that we can control the length of the bounce by controlling the tightness of hand?
This takes a lot of touch. Yes you can control the depth with the touch of your hand as well.
Off a deeper ball you should always smash.
Ok,I will train it
I hope that my new bat that is said to have great touch itself will help to improve my own touch
I just asked because smashing a short ball is much easier than smashing a deeper ball.
Wow! This video help me a lot. Thanks Pingskills. :DD
