Bad knee pain

Strokes

Hi guys,

I'm getting some really bad knee pain and thought I'd get your opinion on some ideas to reduce the pain. I play in an office pretty much every day - carpeted floors and unfortunately I'm wearing business shoes most of the time. I read through the other questions about knee pain and working out your legs is a common suggestion. I'm plenty built for the game - I work out just about every day and have very strong legs but after an hour a day of pong my knees are aching.

Do you think the carpeted floors are hurting my knees? Or maybe I'm wearing the wrong shoes? I do tend to jump a little when I smash and sometimes land hard - are there any exercises or drills that would emphasize keeping my feet planted?

Thanks for the help!

Hi Adam,

The shoes sound the main thing to me, but I am far from an expert on knee pain.

One thing that does help to keep you balanced is bending lower with your knees but this may be counterproductive.  It is worth going to a specialist on this.  A physiotherapist is often the best person to look at these things.

Stop Coming Back to Ready Position! Do This Instead…

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
